To provide a systematic understanding of the information sources; To develop a comprehensive understanding of critical review; To develop an ability to write scientific and technical reports.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this Unit students will have demonstrated the ability to evaluate critically current research and advanced scholarship in the discipline; to evaluate methodologies and develop critiques of them and, where appropriate, to propose new hypotheses.

Skills:

* Communication skills (written and oral).
* Data acquisition handling and analysis (sourcing, evaluating and categorising information).
* Study skills.
* Working independently.

Content:
Sources of information, library, referencing, writing types, report writing, presentation techniques. Research methodologies, experimental methods, synthesis of results.
