To enable students to understand the extent to which the construction industry impacts the social and physical environment.
To enable students to appreciate the complexity of generating and implementing CSR plans in construction organisations.

Learning Outcomes:
After studying this unit students will be able to:
* Appreciate the extent to which the construction industry impacts the social and physical environment
* Understand the importance of external stakeholders to the organisation�s health
* Appreciate the complexity and dynamic aspects of factors influencing the creation of a CSR plan
* Understand and explain the games aspects of CSR
* Understand the benefits of voluntary versus regulatory CSR
* Realise the intricacies of implementing and monitoring a CSR plan
* Appreciate the need for effectively reporting social and environmental activities
* Understand the costs of and barriers to CSR planning
* Develop a critical ability to compare and appraise company plans.

The study materials are divided into the following sections:
* Introduction to CSR and the Organisation
* Drivers of the CSR agenda and stakeholder theory, engagement and analysis
* Voluntary versus regulatory approach to CSR
* Implementing, measuring and reporting CSR
* Implementing CSR: obstacles and challenges.
