To enable the students to:
* identify and understand the knowledge, regulatory and sector requirements of the Foundation Stage and National Curriculum;
* understand how children's learning and development relates to a range of theories, perspectives and dimensions;
* support the learning of all children across the Foundation Stage, providing an inclusive and accessible early years programme.

Learning Outcomes:
The students will be able to:
* plan for and implement appropriate opportunities and experiences for children across each of the 6 areas of the Foundation Stage;
* identify, provide and maintain an effective learning environment;
* monitor, assess and record children's progress across all areas of the Foundation Stage, using a range of methods;
* reflect, analyse, review and evaluate both the children's learning, personal learning and the provision of the setting;
* demonstrate practical examples of encouraging and enabling children to be active participants in their own learning and development;
* share and use information with and from families in order to support their child's learning and development.

Sector specific knowledge; planning; flexibility; creativity; encouraging; time management; collaborativeness; literacy; numeracy; scientific; ICT; inter/intra personal; analysis, reflection, problem solving.

Content:
This unit will focus on the legislative and regulatory frameworks of education across the Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum; The six areas of learning and the early learning goals will be examined in depth, as will the identification of and planning and delivery for an inclusive, effective and appropriate early years programme required to meet the developing and changing needs of all children.
