1. The aim of this course is to provide an introduction to the study of organisations by using a macro perspective.
2. The course aims to develop a capacity for the critical analysis of organisational design and theory. The goal is to indicate students the ways that might help us to understand how organisations function and what different theories and concepts might imply for organisations during their life span.

Learning Outcomes:
After taking this course, students will have a better understanding of the term 'organisation'. While the students will come with a basic knowledge of this term, this course aims to study the issues organisations face during their life span such as downsizing, forming alliances etc. In addition, the factors - such as size, external environment etc- that surround and impact organisations during their daily activities are discussed. We will also focus on how organisational design and structure might play a role in the life span of an organisation when an organisation faces the above-mentioned issues and factors such as change, decline etc. Lastly, how these issues and factors impact organisational outcomes such as effectiveness will be discussed.
