The aim of this unit is to provide the student with experience of the profession of pharmacy in a foreign country. This will be achieved by placement in an overseas School of Pharmacy under an approved exchange scheme.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this Unit, the student will be able to : demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the pharmacy profession in their placement country; undertake a project-style investigation with formulation of an hypothesis, critical evaluation of relevant research methods, data generation and analysis leading to a formal written report.

Content:
Specific content will vary for individual placements but may include a combination of the following:
a) Taught courses in pharmaceutical science or practice;
b) Work experience in pharmaceutical practice;
c) Laboratory based pharmaceutical research;
d) Pharmacy practice project.
The content must include an element of research resulting in the collection of data. This will form the basis of one of the written reports.
In addition the student will be required to undertake a self directed study of the profession of pharmacy in the host country, including a critical review and comparison with the pharmacy profession in the UK.
