This clinical module aims to update underpinning knowledge of respiratory disease management and therapeutics.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this unit students will be able to:
1. Manage the pharmaceutical care of patients with common respiratory diseases.
2. Describe and critically evaluate the classes of medicines used to manage the above disease states in terms of indications, side-effect profiles, adverse reactions, monitoring parameters, appropriate dosing regimen, patient self-reliance and other concordance issues.
3. Complete and critically reflect upon pharmaceutical care plans for specific patients suffering from common respiratory conditions.
4. Apply the knowledge gained throughout the unit to be able to develop patient-focused pharmaceutical care in the local environment.

* Respiratory failure
* Lower respiratory tract infections
* Cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis
* Pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension, pneumothorax and pleural infections.
