Click here for further information Description: Aims:
This unit is designed to equip students with an appreciation of the factors influencing the development of funeral service from 1700 to the present.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the unit students will have demonstrated:
* A basic knowledge of the historical origins of funeral service in the UK;
* An understanding of developments within the nineteenth century which led to the expansion of the funeral industry;
* An ability to identify and interpret the social, religious and technical factors which impacted on the work of funeral director in the twentieth century.

* To evaluate arguments and research;
* To consider research evidence as well as a variety of other information;
* To synthesise information from a number of sources in order to gain a coherent understanding;
* To identify theory in relation to work based practice.
