To understand the key theoretical approaches to formal and informal pedagogies with respect to the processes of learning and for application to a variety of contexts including teaching, coaching and working with young people.

Learning Outcomes:
To develop the following:
* Ability to plan for pedagogical instruction;
* Ability to evaluate pedagogical effectiveness;
* An understanding of young people as embodied learners;
* Ability to utilise different types of subject knowledge.

Theorising Sport, Pedagogy and Physical Activity
* What is sport pedagogy
* Why is it important
* Who is it important for?
* How do we learn about sport, physical activity and the body
Planning for pedagogical instruction:
* Creation of a learning framework through specification of aims/objective, assessment, evaluation
* Pedagogue as a more capable other; nature of the coach-athlete relationship, roles and social context of the pedagogue / pedagogy
Applying pedagogical strategies and professional practice.
