The aim of this unit is to introduce students to the importance of educational psychology for pedagogical practice and sport participation. The unit aims to do this by:
* Introducing them to key constructs and theoretical frameworks linked to learning and teaching;
* Demonstrating how such theoretical frameworks have important practical implications in pedagogical and participatory contexts;
* Exposing them to current ideas and research surrounding the above frameworks.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of the module students will be able to:
* Understand and explain key theoretical frameworks and constructs in educational psychology.
* Appreciate that such ideas have significance to learning, teaching and participation in sport-related areas.
* Outline the specific implications of such ideas for sport and physical activity in general.

Skills:
* Comprehensive and scholarly written communication
* Ability to select, summarise and synthesise written information from multiple sources
* Ability to develop rigorous arguments through precise use of concepts and models
* Ability to relate theory to practice
* Ability to select and use appropriate ideas to produce a coherent response to a pre-set question
* Ability to produce work to agreed specifications and deadlines
* Ability to work independently.

e) Anxiety and self-esteem.
