To understand the key sports policies that frame sport in the UK and internationally
To have critically engaged with the main principles of Sports Policy development.

Learning Outcomes:
At the completion of this unit the student will:
* have gained an understanding of the range of knowledge bases underpinning sports policy.
* be able to explain and discuss the relevance of, and contestations between, public and private providers, national and international objectives, corporate sport and public policy
* be able to critically discuss the politics of the role of sport in achieving wider social policy outcomes.

* Develop and apply the skills needed for academic study and inquiry T/A
* Evaluate both research and evidence critically and assess a variety of information sources T/A
* Synthesise information from a number of sources in order to gain a coherent understand of theory and practice T/A

* Influence of political ideology on sport policy development
* UK Sports Policy within the Global Context
* Use of sport in developing social capital
* Specific Sports Strategy Documents and major sports policies
* Cross-Cutting Agendas and the role of sport in social policy delivery.
