Further information on descriptions Description: Aims:
The aims of this unit are to develop an understanding of the use of CAD and CAM packages and how they interact, and provide the student with experience of a range of CAD packages, as well as ensuring the students understand the basics of CAM machining.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the unit the student should be able to:
* Generate a range of solid models using different construction techniques;
* Evaluate the use of different features and techniques when constructing a solid model;
* Produce a component drawing and be able to transfer it into a CAM package;
* Simulate a range of cutter paths using suitable CAM software;
* Understand the basics of CAM machinery.

Skills:
During the unit students should gain the following skills:
Intellectual:
* Improving own learning and performance (F,A)
* Applying theory to practice (T, F, A)
* Formulating outcomes (A)
