The aims of this unit are to rationalize the use of composite materials used in the motorsport industry. The impact of Composite materials on the performance and safety of competition vehicles will be examined.
How composite materials have affected the design parameters of a competition vehicle will also be considered.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this unit students should be able to:
* Analyse and evaluate a range of composite materials;
* Evaluate the impact of manufacturing low volume and production components in a range of composite materials;
* Justify composite materials in the design of competition vehicle components in relation to alternatives.
