The aim of this module is to facilitate technical competence in the use of Information & communications technology; an understanding of the importance and usage of information technology systems & procedures in the contemporary social work context and an awareness of legislation with regard to storage and access to information.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the unit the students should be able to:
* Prepare reports & documents that are understandable & accessible, contain clear summaries & recommendations in a format appropriate to the task (Key Role 3 Unit 11 Element 11.1 c)
* Identify systems & procedures for collecting, analysing & evaluating information to improve practice & service (Key Role 5 Unit 15 Element 15.4 a).
* Contribute to ensuring that information provided is accessible to & usable & understandable by recipients (Key Role 5 Unit 15 Element 15.4 c)
* Use recording & reporting procedures (including the use of ICT) to produce records & reports that reflect best practice & are accurate, concise, objective, understandable, legible & accessible (Key Role 5 Unit 16 Element 16.1 c).
