This module aims to provide students with further experience of contemporary social work practice & its organisational context at a more complex level that is consistent with the requirements of a newly qualified social worker.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the module students will be able to:
* Prepare for & work with individuals, families, carers, groups & communities to assess their needs & circumstances (Key Role 1):
- Prepare for social work contact & involvement (Unit 1)
- Work with individuals, families, carers, groups & communities to help them make informed decisions (Unit 2)
- Assess needs & options to recommend a course of action (Unit 3)
* Plan, carry out, review & evaluate social work practice with individuals, families, carers, groups, communities & other professionals (Key Role 2):
- Respond to crisis situations (Unit 4)
- Interact with individuals, families, carers, groups & communities to achieve change & development & to improve life opportunities (Unit 5)
- Prepare, produce, implement & evaluate plans with individuals, families, carers, groups, communities & professional colleagues (Unit 6)
- Support the development of networks to meet assessed needs & planned outcomes (Unit 7)
- Work with groups to promote individual growth, development & independence (Unit 8)

Content:
85-day period of assessed practice within a social work agency setting. Content will vary according to the seetting but will include sufficient learning opportunities to enable the student to demonstrate competence to the occupational standards stated above.
