Further information on descriptions Description: Aims:
To expand students' experience of how buildings fit into places.
To introduce ideas of context in village or urban situations, methods of site analysis, and the translation of both these into actual designs.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the unit each student must:
* demonstrate through their coursework the ability to meet the requirements of a given brief.
* demonstrate the ability to employ appropriate means and conventions of architectural representation.
* demonstrate the ability to analyse context and use this analysis to inform their design.

Skills:
By the end of this unit the students should have extended the range of their skills in architectural design, drawing and model making.

Content:
The initial stage of the project will require students to analyse and respond to a given context. This exercise may be carried out in small teams.
The majority of the Unit will be devoted to the individual design of a multi-cell building of limited complexity requiring non-domestic construction. This project will require students to employ basic principles of architectural composition. This project is used as a vehicle for environmental analysis carried out as part of AR20297 Building Environment 2 and detailed design carried out as part of AR20012.
This project is also used as a vehicle for the students to employ skills acquired in AR20009 CAD 1.
