Further information on descriptions Description: Aims:
To provide experience in studying within a non-UK Higher Education system. To enrich previous foreign language and/or cultural skills. To develop in students the ability to work effectively in a culture different from that of the U.K. To broaden the range of Computer Science subjects studied, utilising the research and subject expertise of the host institution. To develop the ability to operate at a scientific level in a second language [where appropriate].

Learning Outcomes:
To achieve the learning objectives set out in the units identified in the programme agreed for the student;
To develop personal and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work and interact effectively in a group environment in which cultural norms and ways of operating may be very different from those previously familiar;
To develop the self-confidence and maturity to operate effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds;
To develop an understanding of the stresses that occur in working in a different culture from the UK, and learn to cope with those stresses;
In the case of students attending Universities in countries whose language is not English, improve their knowledge of the host language by attending classes therein.

Working with others (T/F, A), Communications (T/F, A), skills dependant on the units identified in the programme agreed for the student.

Content:
Attendance of a European University to study Computer Science for a year within another institution (with which the University has a Socrates exchange agreement) and within another culture. The programme of study that a student will undertake and the translation of results to the range of marks appropriate for a Bath University degree will be identified prior to the start of the Study Abroad by the Department's Overseas Study and International Students Tutor in liaison with the host institution and, as appropriate, the University of Bath International Office. The programme of study shall be equivalent to 60 ECTS credits of FHEQ Intermediate or Honours level study. The programme of study identified should substantially reflect the Aims and Learning Objectives of the student's degree programme and will normally be expected to be new material or to explore different areas of subjects already studied. Students pass CM20106 if, after agreed mark adjustment, they:
* Achieve an overall average mark for the year of at least 40%
* Achieve 60 credits from the agreed programme of units studied.
