To develop an understanding of ethical and moral issues related to Sport, Health & Physical Activity.

Learning Outcomes:

* Develop an understanding of emerging issues and pressures experienced by professionals (coaches, athletes, support staff, educators, policy makers, development officers, management and so on) in the Sports Industry;
* Critical understanding of the moral and ethical issues within society as a whole and the impact this has on sport, health & physical activity.

Skills:

* Concise, time-bound and effective written communication (e.g. briefings / exams) T/F/A
* Effective oral communication (e.g. poster presentations) F
* Ability to develop rigorous arguments through precise use of concepts and models. T/F
* Ability to apply theory into practice. F

Content:
Developing reasoned and critical responses to ethical / moral phenomena in sport: Topics will be generated in conjunction with the student population, but may include topics related to: drugs, gender, religion, medicine, genetic technologies, science, technologies, child welfare, body politics, cheating, nationalism, fascism & militarism, neoliberal market principles, and how they impact on the various professions in the sports industry.
