This unit will enable the practitioner to consider the use of ICT with children within a curriculum. It will identify and evaluate a range of equipment and analyse and reflect on how ICT can promote children's development whilst considering the health and safety of the child and environment.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the unit the student should be able to:
* Recognise and discuss how to support children's development and the curriculum by using ICT.
* Demonstrate progression in own ICT capability.
* Identify and discuss national programmes, requirement strategies and expected outcomes for children.
* Evaluate ICT learning and play materials, resources and environments to maximise learning and development.
* Summarise the role ICT plays in inclusive practice.
* Identify and apply health and safety requirements when using ICT.

Content:
* Evaluate ICT and its effective use within the curriculum
* Planning, development, implementation and evaluation of ICT within the curriculum for children, including: when, when not, and how to use ICT to meet identified teaching objectives.
* How to organise ICT to maximise learning, motivation, development and participation
* How and what ICT activities, materials and resources to select to enhance children's learning and development
* How to evaluate ICT learning and play materials, resources and environments to maximise learning and development
* How and when to assess children's learning and development using ICT
* How the use of ICT can enhance young children's learning the nature and role of ICT and its place within the curriculum.
