To complete a substantial engineering / research project relating to the Electrical Power Systems by Distance Learning Programme.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the unit students should be able to accept responsibility for delegated tasks within a project area, plan a scheme of work and complete it to a standard expected of a professional engineer. The student should be able to develop innovative solutions to problems and produce designs which meet the requirements of the project.

Skills:
To develop skills in formulating an engineering solution to an electrical power system problem, planning and carrying out the required research and engineering, and writing up the work as an academic dissertation.

Content:
Identification of a suitable topic for engineering research and development, and setting the programme of work; a comprehensive literature review; a rigorous academic analysis and discussion; conclusions.
