To familiarise the student with the major physiological systems in the human body, their integration and regulation, as the basis for the study of the effects of acute and chronic exposure to exercise on health and sports performance.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of:
* the structure and the function of the major physiological systems of the human body;
* how the function of major organs and systems is integrated and regulated;
* the roles and relevance of the major physiological systems to exercise physiology.
