Further information on descriptions Description: Aims:
The aims of this unit are to consider the use of Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacture in Motorsport. This will include the effects of CAD/CAM on Motorsport manufacturing and to consider some of the current software systems available to the market.
The learner will also have firsthand experience of designing, programming and manufacturing a component using the available machinery and software.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this unit students should be able to:
* Identify areas in which CAD/CAM may be implemented or further used to improve the product/profitability of small to medium companies working in the motorsport industry
* Design a component from a given complex design brief using advanced CAD techniques.
* Justify the use of a CAD/CAM package on financial grounds for use within a motorsport company
* Understand a variety of CAD/CAM manufacturing techniques.

Skills:
During the unit students should gain the following skills:
Intellectual:
* Gathering , processing and analysing technical information (A)
* Formulating outcomes (A)
Professional:
* Make and delivering written and verbal presentations (A)
* Evaluate the requirements of industry (A)
Practical:
