The aims of this unit are to develop students' ability to integrate an experiential and theoretical understanding of team dynamics and develop their skills within the context of a self-managed student team. Each team has the task of delivering a charitable community project for an external partner organization. By drawing on relevant theory, students will be asked to inquire critically into the dynamics of designing and delivering the project, collaborating within the team and with external partners, and generating a social impact.
Within the overall context of the MAMP, this module seeks to prepare students for the completion of their 'Portfolio of Professional Practice' during the Period of Practice (MN50389).
As a postgraduate level unit, students will be expected to identify and engage critically with relevant organizational literature.

Content:
The emphasis of this module is on (a) facilitating student teams in undertaking a Community-Based Action Learning Project and (b) evaluating implications as a developing management practitioner (individual). This will be achieved through a combination of taught lectures, providing guidance on research methods and organizational dynamics, and tutorials for the exchange of feedback, team coaching and monitoring and reporting of progress.
Learning in this unit is generated through classroom teaching and experiential learning. In this learning activity, teams of approximately five students will plan and deliver a social value generating project off campus that is of benefit to a non-profit organization (e.g. charity, social enterprise, community organization, or school; and possibly in partnership with business). This activity creates the experiential context for students to apply and develop their self-management, communications and management skills and generate experiences that will enable them to integrate and apply relevant concepts and theories, such as on teams, projects, partnerships and leadership.
For the assessment of this module, students are expected to use systematic methods of tracking and reporting on their individual and collective accomplishments and learning. They need to identify, research and analyse dynamics that are relevant to the either: the functioning of the team (and their own role within it), their interactions with the non-profit organization and other stakeholders, or the non-profit organization's interactions with its wider organizational environment.
