The aim of this unit is to introduce a number of theoretical perspectives that students will explore in the degree programme.

Learning Outcomes:
In the completion of the unit, students should be able to:
* Have gained a basic understanding of the key social science approaches to understanding sport & the physically active and healthy body;
* Been exposed to a variety of conceptual concerns that will be explored through the degree programme;
* Think critically about the relationships between sport, physical activity, health, the body and society;
* Think critically about how the perspectives addressed in the unit relate to professional practice and career pathways.
