To allow participants to demonstrate a holistic approach to learning & teaching and research, as required for Academic Professionals with both research and teaching in their contracts.

Learning Outcomes:
On Successful completion of this unit, participants will have demonstrated:
* A critical understanding of good practice in research management and supervision.
* The ability to develop an individual research strategy based on critical awareness of external and university specific policies and developments as well as personal drivers.
* An awareness of appropriate approaches to position research for the Research Excellence Framework and other institutional and national priorities.
* The requirements for the Academic Professional Apprenticeship Standard (APAS) assessment plan, relevant to staff on teaching and research contracts.
