To examine and evaluate the principles, concepts and approaches employed in purchasing and supply operations, management, strategy and policy.

Learning Outcomes:

* Be able to evaluate critically emerging concepts and principles of purchasing and supply;
* Understand how to manage the components of the operational purchasing cycle;
* Be able to analyse the components of purchasing and supply strategy at different inter-organisational levels;
* Be capable of applying appropriate frameworks, models and techniques for developing and managing a portfolio of supply relationships;
* Understand the role of purchasing and supply in delivering and supporting broader strategic objectives and policies;
* Appreciation of the particular challenges of managing procurement and supply in complex public and service sector supply networks;
* Understand the importance of information and knowledge sharing in supply relationships and networks.
