This unit introduces the fundamental concepts, theoretical models and practical understanding of the entrepreneurial process.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this unit, students will be able to:
* Understand the nature of entrepreneurial opportunities and how they unfold from an initial idea to the set-up and growth of new ventures.
* Reflect on the skills and behaviours entrepreneurs need to develop and engage in when dealing with uncertainty of opportunities and resources.
* Analyse the entrepreneurial process from multiple theoretical perspectives and in different environments (social, market, corporate, etc)
* Apply the principles of entrepreneurship to real life situations,

Intellectual skills:
* Recognise the contribution of parent disciplines (economics, psychology, and sociology) to the study of entrepreneurship
* Compare opportunities and challenges for entrepreneurship in various contexts
Practical skills:
* Be able to identify trends and conditions supporting entrepreneurship
* Make use of the experience of real-life entrepreneurs as role models.
Transferable skills:
* Enhance individual attitude towards entrepreneurship
* Familiarize with key concepts and practices of entrepreneurship.

Systemic context (technology-economy). Differences between self-employment and entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurial traits and heuristics. Sources and forms of opportunities. Resource acquisition and entrepreneurial teams. New ventures. Family businesses. Social and corporate entrepreneurship. International entrepreneurship.
