The aim of this unit is to allow the student to undertake a literature based research project, and to develop research skills, including critical appraisal and presentational skills.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the unit the student will be able to:
1. demonstrate an ability to identify a research hypothesis
2. critically analyse literature sources to support their hypothesis
3. present the data and conclusions in the format of a research grant application

Content:
Students will be offered a choice of research project from a wide range of topics in pharmacology. The written report will take the form of a research grant proposal, using a form based on that provided by the Wellcome Trust.
