Further information on descriptions Description: Aims:
This unit offers the learning opportunities to apply and integrate Chemical Engineering principles and sustainability concepts for designing sustainable industrial systems. Group and individual activities will prepare students for their future professional working environment. Students will be able to learn and develop essential skills effectively through this hands-on project experience which will also be supported by a series of lectures.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion students will be able to:
* Apply Chemical Engineering knowledge and skills to complete a sustainable process design using a holistic approach; i.e. considering social, environmental and techno-economic aspects.
* Analyse problems through critical thinking and problem-solving approaches to process design.
* Identify input data, working with incomplete data and interpret results.
* Demonstrate competence in applying a simulation tool for process modelling.
* Develop scientific writing skills and professional presentation skills for illustrating ideas, methods and findings.
* Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills for the professional working environment (e.g. leadership skills, team working, communication and time management).

Skills:
Problem solving; critical thinking; holistic appraisal; planning; numeracy; written communication; oral communication; working as part of a group; leadership; IT.
