To equip students with the skills to be able to understand, design and critically appraise control systems and circuits for a variety of electronic systems.

Learning Outcomes:
After successfully completing this unit the student will be able to:
Demonstrate systematic and detailed understanding of linear and non-linear control systems design techniques.
Demonstrate detailed knowledge of suitable design techniques for the design of control systems.
Demonstrate critical understanding of the uncertainty and limits of control systems and where they can be applied in practical settings.
Employ a range of control system design techniques to practical problems.
Demonstrate the ability to use appropriate professional simulation and design tools.

Control algorithms in common use in the electronic systems and electronic control system design, modelling and analysis.
PID controller design.
Compensation of feedback control systems to ensure stability.
Non-Linear control systems design.
Lyapunov analysis methods.
Frequency domain design methods including bode plots and pole-zero.
Dynamic controller design using frequency domain and state space approaches.
Controllable and observable systems.
MIMO control systems.
Non-linear system modelling and analysis.
System stability analysis.
Design and implementation of autonomous control systems.
Applications of Control in Electronic Systems.
