This unit's objectives are to provide an overview of current logistics and distribution practices to help create an understanding of the basic components of logistics management and what is considered best practice today.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the unit, students should be able to:
* Demonstrate a systematic understanding of the concepts and approaches used to analyse and resolve logistics problems
* Apply and critique theories of logistics management in practical applications
* Appreciate the role of logistics within the context of a supply chain management

* Capability to apply theory to the analysis and diagnosis of the challenges of managing global logistics networks

Content:
The unit will apply a managerial focus approach to integrating various logistical activities. This approach covers the complexities associated with the integrated flow of raw materials, in-process goods, finished goods, and information from point-of-origin through the production process to the end consumer. The course provides an understanding of how these activities work together to provide required levels of customer services.
