Description: Aims:
This unit aims to:
* Allow students to develop an understanding and practical application of a variety of components of the biological hierarchy and their functions related to physical activity.
* Ensure that key skills are embedded and identified, through linking theoretical concepts to context within their sports performance.
* Ensure students continually reflect on their own personal learning and development.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this unit students will be able to:
* Review the impacts and benefits of exercise on the body through an integrated systems approach
* Explain the role of specific organs within the cardiovascular and respiratory system, Neuromuscular and skeletal system.
* Explain the differences between the energy systems.
* Explain the usefulness of testing within an exercise and sports physiology domain.

* Understand the various body systems including; skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular / respiratory, and energy.
* Identify benefits of exercise including acute and chronic effects on skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular / respiratory, and energy.
* Understand the use of physiology testing within exercise and sports physiology.
* Understand the functioning of the body through an integrated systems approach.
