Description: Aims:
To provide students with a comprehensive understanding and critical awareness of health technologies through the history of their development and their relation to physical activity.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
* Understand and critically reflect on the process of health technology assessment, use and promotion in the context of health and physical activity
* Describe, compare and critique the different types of health technologies
* Understand the requirements for regulation of health technologies
* Systematically and critically examine healthcare policy making in the context of new and existing health technologies
* Understand the uptake of Health technologies and related policy from a healthcare, economic and societal perspective.
* Coherently discuss and critically explore the policy and professional context of health technologies in the UK and internationally

Origins, development and current status of new and existing health technologies in the UK and internationally - e.g. NHS recommended apps
Health technologies in relevant health and physical activity professions with particular reference to policy and practice.
