Description: Aims:
To give each student the experience of a real engineering design situation as part of a group.
To locate the contribution of the engineer, whether in design, R&D, manufacture, in the context of securing the firms broad commercial goals by means of effective product and market related policies and practices.
To introduce the students to issues associated with entrepreneurship, sustainability and the environment.
To introduce the student to team working.
To introduce financial management procedures, marketing, ethics, risk assessment and business law.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit the student will be able to:
* Extract and evaluate pertinent data and apply engineering analysis techniques in the solution of unfamiliar problems [EA6m, P4m].
* Identify the entrepreneurial aspects and key drivers for business success in an engineering design scenario [EL7m].
* Work in a multi-disciplinary team [G3m, G4].
* communicate their work to technical and non-technical audiences [D6].
* Describe the commercial, economic, legal and social context of their design decisions, including professional and ethical conduct and health and safety issues, and evaluate environmental and commercial risk [EL2, P5, EL1m, EL5m, EL6m].
