Learning Outcomes: Students successfully completing the unit will have shown their ability to:
i) understand the epistemological positions and methodological approaches adopted by management researchers.
ii) critically evaluate the literature and define a research question in a relevant area.
iii) write a proposal for a successful research project.


Aims: To create the opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of management research and to put that learning into practice.

Content: Taught sessions will cover: nature of academic research and the research process; carrying in out a literature review and defining a research question; philosophy of research and research designs; issues in designing, conducting and analysing quantitative and qualitative research methods (including interviews, focus groups, case studies, experiments, surveys, mixed research); ethical issues; writing research.
