CBOS Aims

CBOS Aims

The primary aim of CBOS is the study of the relationship between corporations and the societies within which they operate thereby enabling firms to respond reactively and proactively to evolving social issues. More broadly, we focus on research that contributes to knowledge and informs decision makers in government, companies, communities and finance houses of the changing nature of business responsibilities and role within society. CBOS investigates, on an ongoing basis, the incidence, causes, and consequences of firm social and environmental engagement, in order to stimulate the efficient management of social issues within business organizations, and broaden the conceptualization of business within society.

Aims of the Centre are:

  1. To produce internationally leading research into the incidence, causes, and consequences of firm social and environmental engagement.
  2. To influence and inform best management practice in the area of business and society.
  3. To strengthen interdisciplinary research links within the School and the University.
  4. To provide a research environment conducive to the development of a thriving community of doctoral students in the area of Business, Organizations and Society.
  5. To work with leading scholars as visiting senior fellows, facilitating the development of international networks and increasing the scope for international collaborative research.
