Stephen Brammer

Stephen Brammer

Stephen is Professor of Business & Society and Director of CBOS at the University of Bath, School of Management. His current research activity explores the interfaces between business organizations and the societies in which they operate, principally through conceptual lenses drawn from strategic management, psychology and economics. Much of his research examines the stimuli for socially responsive corporate behaviour and the relationships between firm social performance and other dimensions of corporate performance. Specific recent projects include: an investigation of the importance of corporate social performance for corporate reputation; an analysis of the drivers of corporate social and environmental reporting; and a study of the role that corporate news media visibility plays in stimulating social responsiveness. His research has been widely published in leading journals such as the Journal of Management Studies, the Journal of Business Research, Financial Management, the Cambridge Journal of Economics, the Journal of Business Ethics and Business & Society.

Professor Andrew Millington

Professor Andrew Millington

Andrew Millington is Professor of Business and Society and Head of the Business, Society and Business Economics Group. Organizations and Society and his recent work focuses on two areas. First, the motivation and management of corporate social performance; key themes emphasize the role of organizational characteristics, corporate strategy, stakeholder pressures, and industry conditions as stimulants of corporate social performance and its organization and management within the corporation. Second, the interface between the cultural and institutional environment in China and the Chinese operations of UK and US firms. Key issues include the relationships between ethical conduct and guanxi and the impact of institutional and cultural factors on the management of relationships in China. His research has been supported by the EPSRC, the ESRC, the European Commission, the DTI and the Welsh Office. His work is published in leading management journals including the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management Studies, Human Relations, Management International Review and the Cambridge Journal of Economics.

Annie Powell

Annie Powell

Annie joined CBOS as a Research Assistant in 2010 after completing her MBA at the University of Bath School of Management.  She is currently working on a joint HEFCE-funded project with Nottingham University Business School.  The project, “Integrating Sustainability into Business Schools”, will provide guidance to business schools on the integration and communication of social, economic and ecological sustainability in their educational programmes, research and practises.
