Faith Societies

The Chaplaincy offers a meeting place and base for several university societies representing many denominations and faiths.

Students Union Societies

BANG!, Cath Soc, J.Soc and I.Soc are all Student Union affiliated societies, the other faith societies are not affiliated to the Students Union.

University of Bath Anglican Society

BANG! is a small and friendly Christian society with a slight Anglican bias, whose termly programme includes guest speakers on topics from Iona to halloween, varied discussion sessions, and many social activities. Big BANG! events of the year include the Christmas Meal and the annual weekend Retreat in February! BANG! is an SU Society

A lively and enthusiastic group of Christian Chinese students, meeting at the Chaplaincy Centre every Satuday evening at 7.30pm. All welcome.

Bath University Christian Union

The CU is a large union of more than 130 students (not part of the Students Union) with the aim "To Know Christ and Make Christ Known". This is done through the main weekly meeting, morning and lunchtime prayer meetings, weekly evangelistic lunchtime talks, and small Bible study groups that meet on various nights of the week.

CathSoc is friendly group of people, open to all, and we plan a wide range of events to surely take away, or contrast, the humdrum of academia. As well as the Sunday Mass, you can join us for our famed social events, plus a schedule packed with events, speakers on topical issues, serious discussions, trips out, retreats... and in fact anything you like!! Christians in Sport

Christians in Sport

Christians in Sport has been reaching the world of sport for Christ for over thirty years. We work with sportspeople across the age range, covering over eighty different sports and ranging from young people playing in their school team through to professional athletes. We meet on campus to encourage one another, pray together and equip ourselves to make Jesus known in our sports teams and clubs.

Islamic Society

Islamic Society

The Islamic Society aims to promote awareness about Islam, promote brotherhood and tolerance between Muslims and non-Muslims, organise activities (educational and recreational) which reflect the Islamic faith and teaching, and help to cater for the needs of Muslim students in the Campus environment. Activities include talks, ladies-only swimming lessons, Eid events, and videos. The Islamic Society is an SU Society. For entry to the Muslim Prayer room please go to the Library Reception for access details. The library reception is open 24/7. Please take your library card with you.

Jewish Society

Jewish Society

Everyone is welcome to join the Jewish Society in Bath. We provide support to Jewish students studying in Bath and to help people learn more about the Jewish faith. You don't have to be Jewish to join! We meet up for religious festivals, conferences, lectures and the occasional drink. In fact if you have any ideas for activities then let us know. J. Soc is an SU Society. Moshe is the Jewish chaplain for the south west. He'll be glad to hear from you.

Orthodox Students Society

Orthodox Students Society

The Orthodox Students Society is a place where you can meet students from many different countries, who bring with them a deep cultural and spiritual heritage. The Society gives time and space to explore questions relating to the Orthodox Faith and an opportunity to pray and study our tradition together. The local Orthodox Church in Bath is the Parish Community of St. John of Kronstadt.
