Collaborative student mentoring scheme launched
Committee members from the
Chemical
Engineering Student Association (CESA) have come together with the Department of Chemical
Engineering and the
University of Bath Students' Union to
set up a new student mentoring scheme.
Thirty enthusiastic second year students have undertaken training run by the Students' Union and volunteered to act as mentors to first year students in the Department. The scheme is already well underway and a recent team building event allowed mentees and mentors to get together for the first time.
Head of Department Professor Julian Chaudhuri is greatly supportive of the scheme: "I am really pleased that the students have taken it upon themselves to mentor each other and improve their experience at Bath. There is a lot of information that can pass from year to year that will help enrich both the academic and social aspects of being a Chemical Engineering student at Bath, and will also help to integrate all of our students."
