Student mentoring is back again for our first-year students
Following on the success
of last year's student mentoring scheme, the
Chemical
Engineering Student Association (CESA) and the
University of Bath Students' Union
with support from the Department of Chemical Enginnering, are running the scheme again for our new
students.
The student mentoring scheme, a programme run by students for students, aims to make new students feel like at home at the University. For the second year running, a number of second-year students have undertaken training run by the Students' Union and volunteered to act as mentors to first-year students in the Department.
CESA Chair Sam Pearce said: "The mentor scheme meet-and-greet was a very successful night with both mentors and mentees bonding over pizza, drinks and what can only be described as 'interesting' pub quiz questions. Feedback from first years and mentors has been nothing but positive, with both groups describing the new scheme as a great idea. By the sounds of it, the majority of students will stay in touch."
Faculty Student Experience Officer Sarah Stead said: "The Chem
Eng peer mentoring scheme is fantastic and CESA worked really hard organising and co-ordinating the
first peer mentor event of the year, which was a brilliant success."
