Fellowship Academy highly commended at IChemE Awards 2012
The Fellowship Academy, a
Faculty programme which nurtures and develops ‘ home-grown’ talent, was highly commended under the
category
Education and Training at the recent IChemE 2012 annual dinner.
The international awards, now in their 19th year, celebrate both individual and team achievement in chemical engineering innovation and excellence.
The awards are highly regarded throughout the international chemical, process and biochemical engineering community.
The Fellowship Academy was founded and is run by Professor Julian Chaudhuri, Head of Chemical Engineering and Associate Dean (Research), and Dr Jeanette Müller, Staff Development Manager, from the Researcher Development Unit in the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Office.
Professor Julian Chaudhuri said: "I am delighted that our approach to developing the next generation of engineering academics has been recognised by the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
We spend a lot of time and effort recruiting excellent lecturers in Engineering and Design, and now the Fellowship Academy gives us a route to develop and nurture our own researchers to become outstanding future academics."
The Academy identifies promising early career researchers in the Faculty of Engineering and Design and supports them by accelerating the acquisition of relevant learning skills and experience to enable them to be successful when applying for academic fellowships and lectureships.
The programme also equips participants so they can ‘hit the ground running’ once they’ve won fellowships or lectureships.
