Professor Tim Mays

Tim is Professor of Chemical and Materials Engineering and Head of Department of Chemical Engineering. He is responsible for the teaching, research and strategic planning of the Department.

Tim’s research expertise is in hydrogen energy, with a particular focus on fuel gas storage.

He teaches chemical engineering at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in areas ranging from chemical engineering thermodynamics to nanomaterials for sustainable energy applications.

Tim completed his PhD in Materials and Science Engineering at Bath. After graduating, he became a postdoctoral researcher at the University. Since then, Tim has gained over 20 years' experience as an academic at Bath. He became Head of Department of Chemical Engineering in 2013.
