Overview

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Bath has the highest quality staff and students engaged in leading edge research, teaching and learning.

Teaching

In the most recent QAA Developmental Engagement the Department of Computer Science received the highest possible outcome. The Department has strong links with other departments in the University in both its research and teaching. These links stretch across all faculties, Science, Engineering, Humanities, and the Schools of Management and Health. Collaborations involve us with staff in many departments, such as Mathematical Sciences, Psychology, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Health, Biology, Architecture, and Social Policy.

Research

The interdisciplinary nature of the Department's research is reflected in the vibrant academic and research staff community. Staff have backgrounds which include Computing, Engineering, Mathematics and Psychology and many are active in a number of collaborative research centres such as the Media Technology Research Centre, the Centre for Digital Entertainment and the EPSRC-funded Systems Engineering Doctorate Centre. Involvement with industry at both regional and international levels is high. Regionally, we have close links with HP Laboratories, BAe Systems, Airbus and Vodafone. These collaborations benefit both our research and teaching activities, providing opportunities for research, seminars, student projects and placements, graduate and postgraduate employment.
