Dr Leon Watts

Profile

Research interests

Topics

Technological design factors influencing participation in collective activity, identity and conflict through information and communication technologies (e.g. videoconferencing, email), individual and collective experience of interacting through communication technologies, presence in computer-mediated interactions (communication and collaborative environments).

Fields

Human-computer interaction (HCI), computer-mediated communication (CMC), computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW).

Projects

The Technology and Social Action AHRB-EPSRC Design for the 21st Century Research Cluster.

EPSRC funded investigation into the use of personal and group identity as a central design concept for CMC systems. The Identity-Based Design project page sets out the aims of this work, the progress we have made, and related resources.
