Terms and conditions
The following apply:
the scheme is open to part-time and full-time students.
the student(s) must be registered on one of the University’s doctoral programmes (PhD or Professional Doctorate).
priority will be given to training activities which fill a gap in current provision.
applications will be judged on the following criteria: how realistic is the proposed training; likely demand for the training across the doctoral student community; and value for money.
applications will be considered by the Doctoral College. Decisions are final with no right of appeal.
successful applicant(s) will be expected to carry out the activities outlined in their proposal, including, but not limited to: identifying and setting a suitable date for the training activity; identifying and briefing presenters/trainers; booking suitable rooms or venue as well as arranging any necessary equipment and catering.
funds can be used to pay for fees for external trainers, reasonable catering costs and materials. Fees cannot be used to pay full-time staff who are employed by the University of Bath.
successful applicants will be required to submit a short evaluation report within one month of completion of the training activity. This should include a summary of the training activity; the number of participants; feedback from participants; a final expenditure statement; reflections of the event; and photographs from the event if possible. Failure to do so may result in the funds you have received being repaid to the University upon demand.
submitted reports, photographs and video may be used to publicise the fund and its work. You may also be asked to participate in activity promoting the scheme.
retrospective applications made after the activity has commenced will not normally be considered.
candidates must acknowledge Doctoral College funding in any communications about the event.
