Each unit from some of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering taught postgraduate programmes may be taken for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) purposes by individuals who do not wish to follow the entire programme.
In the case of the subject areas above, CPD units are non-accredited and students are not assessed.
Studying CPD units in this way is suitable for professionals who wish to increase their knowledge and skills in a particular area and for anyone with an interest in the subject area.

- The MSc in Conservation of Historic Buildings provides training in the fundamental principles of structural and architectural conservation within an academic framework of architectural history and theory, including the philopsophy of conservation.
- The MSc in the Conservation of Historic Gardens and Cultural Landscapes provides students with analytical and practical skills and a thorough grounding in the theory and practice of garden and cultural landscape conservation and management.
