International Development and Wellbeing
Current challenges of climate change and economic crisis suggest the need for a new model of development: one that puts people and the planet at the centre. Local and national governments and organisations are increasingly turning to wellbeing as the goal of their programmes and policies. This requires a robust understanding of wellbeing. In response the University is offering a series of units which address these challenges:
| Unit Code | Unit Title |
| SP50230 | Wellbeing and Human Development: Concepts, Measurement and Policy (available off-campus via e-learning) |
| SP50231 | Development Ethics (available off-campus via e-learning) |
| SP50242 | Wellbeing Assessment in Public Policy and Development Practice (One week intensive residential course in Bath) |
| SP50243 | Wellbeing Assessment Research Project (available off-campus: SP50242 is a prerequisite) |
| SP50254 | Foundations of International Development (available off-campus via e-learning) |
We also offer a:
Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Development (Wellbeing & Human Development).
which is available entirely via distance-learning.
This postgraduate certificate is aimed at professionals who work in the area of poverty reduction, justice and international development. It includes a mixture of e-lectures, readings and interactive seminars. Participants study on a part-time basis (approximately 5 hours per week) enabling them to fit their study around work commitments.
Please note that all other units offered in the Masters in Wellbeing and Human Development and the Masters in International Development can be taken as individual CPD units but this requires attending lectures on campus.
