Where does the course take place?
- The course will take place at the University of Bath Campus. Students can opt to reserve accommodation on campus or within the city of Bath.
What is the content of the course?
- An exploration of what drives students to study overseas and their work ethic
- A detailed look at the learning behaviours and teaching styles associeated with different cultural backgrounds
- The identification of strategies to facilitate improved inter-cultural communication and learning
- The development of strategies for improving the quality of the student experience for overseas students and helping with their cultural integration whilst studying in the UK
Who is the Course Leader?
- Dan-Li Dunford, (Dan Dan, as she likes to be known) is originally from mainland China. She trained as an English Teacher at the North-East Teacher’s University in Changchun, and later, obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in European Management from the ESCEM Business School in Poitiers, France and an MBA Degree from the Bristol Business School.
- Dan Dan is a qualified teacher with a PGCE in Secondary Business Education and now lectures in Mandarin Chinese Language and Culture and Business Chinese. She holds a Certificate in Business Chinese from the London Confucius Institute for Business at the London School of Economics.
- Dan Dan has worked in the Import Export Sector in China for over 10 years and in the education sector in the UK for 5 years, for the Bath Academy International College and the University of Bath Innovation Centre for Entrepreneurs.
- In 2012, she launched English-Chinese Education Services, a new education service, offering specialist training and guidance on China, the Chinese language and cross-cultural learning to education institutions, students and businesses.
