Santander Research Travel Grant Award
Jaspreet Kular, a first year doctoral student in the laboratory of Dr Ram Sharma, has been awarded a Santander Research Travel Grant. The grant will enable Jaspreet to conduct biophysical studies of cells, using specialised systems at Boston University. The application process was highly competitive, with only five grants awarded to perform research at various universities across the world. Jaspreet will characterise pathological cells, and this information will be used towards engineering systems to promote healthy cell states.
Dr Sharma said: “This opportunity allows my group to perform high-level experiments and procure valuable information, as the well-published systems at Boston University are unique and not available in Europe.”
Dr Sharma’s lab focuses on biointerfaces for cell and tissue engineering.
