Biopic
Paolo Casadei graduated from the University of Bologna, Italy, with a degree in Civil Engineering in 2001. After working as a civil engineering consultant for a few months, in the summer of 2001 he started his PhD at the University of Missouri-Rolla. After completing his PhD on assessment and strengthening of reinforced concrete structures with fibre reinforced polymers in 2004, he acted as a civil engineering consultant until he was appointed lecturer in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, at the University of Bath.
Paolo's research has concentrated on the area of retrofitting and in-situ load testing of reinforced concrete (building and bridges) and masonry structures. Through his academic and professional activities, he has obtained laboratory, field and design experience. He has had the opportunity to present and publish a variety of technical papers in the field of infrastructure retrofitting and load testing.
He is member of the technical committees of ACI and serves as an active member on ACI Committee 437, Strength Evaluation of Existing Concrete Buildings, and ACI Committee 440, Fiber Reinforced Polymer Reinforcement. Paolo was appointed as Lecturer of Civil Engineering in January 2005.
