Antony Darby is a Graduate of Bath University. Prior to returning to Bath as a Lecturer, he worked in industry with petrochemical contractor, M.W. Kellogg and as a Design Engineer at Matra-Marconi Space. He also studied for a PhD at Cambridge University and spent two years as a Leverhulme Research Fellow at Oxford University.

His current research interests involve developing methods of reducing the dynamic response of structures, using both active and passive means. He is also interested in the use of fibre reinforced plastic laminates as a structural material in its own right and for use in strengthening existing structures.

His main teaching interests involve the final year option course, Wind and Earthquake Engineering. He also teaches Structures Design and Construction and Structures 3 to the Second year and is involved in teaching Mathematics and Structures 1 to the first year. Additionally he helps with First and Second year design projects.
